In order to promote holistic academic environment, the website and prospectus provide all relevant information about admission, institution rules and regulations, awards. The admission process is widely publicized via local newspaper, notice board, and website. The total process is endeavored to be transparent so that students face no shortcomings while taking admission to the College. The admission process is carried out pertaining to the rules of Government of West Bengal and The University of Burdwan. Admission is based on merit point evaluation and there is relaxation for the SC, ST, OBC, differently-able as dictated by the Government. The total strength of the college is approximately one thousand and two hundred and there is a brilliant faculty in compliance with this. The college extends its warmth to the deprived and weaker sections by providing them with books, INFLIBNET facility, LAN facility, on-line access facility of different journals and remittance of college fees. There is a spacious reading room with the central library so that the students feel free to access different books and journals and enrich themselves.

The college has a science department also which is Mathematics and different journals on mathematics are available online for the students. The Geography Department has a well- lit and equipped Laboratory with all sorts of latest equipments so that students can readily gain hands-on experience and feel interested in the subject they are pursuing.

 

The college has a multi-facility gym for enhancing the physical strength of students and imparts physical agility. Moreover classes based on value-education are offered now and then to promote their moral integrity. There has already been two seminars in the last and present academic session on Value Education and Bhagvad Gita where eminent personality from Ramharipur Ramkrishna Mission turned up and enlighted their young minds. There are separate committees like Examination, Admission, to provide the students with best choices for subjects and addressing to other related issues. The teachers participate in various seminars, workshops, conferences organized by national and international bodies.

The faculty adopts innovative approaches to teaching-learning by introducing internet, LCD projector, field work and socio-economic surveys. The college library is well-stocked with a large number of books. It subscribes to journal, newspaper. The syllabi and question papers are kept in the reference section for facilitating the students. The departments have small departmental libraries which complement the main library of the college. There is almost 85% enrolment in different disciplines. In the academic session 2014-15, the college bagged 2 First classes in University Exams. Class tests are taken on regular basis to evaluate the academic progress of the students. The college has Grievance Cell, Redressal Cell for students and also a Separate Women Cell pertaining particularly to the problems of the girl students. The college offers NSS special sessions to foster a congenial academic ambience.

The College also has a Health unit whereby the health of the students is periodically monitored and on special cases medicines are supplied.

Examinations are held as per the university schedules for evaluation and preparation of students for upcoming challenges. The college has established the IQAC committee to promote academic growth and for proper evaluation of the whole academic system.The college has a well equipped Language Laboratory where students can learn different languages mainly English for better communication and also Smart Classes are held for updating the students with latest technology and making the classes more interesting for them. The college though located in a remote locality tires to make use of latest technological devices so as to deliver the students the maximum from the three years course.

 

SOCIAL AND CULTURAL FUNCTION

There is an ample space for organizing social and cultural functions in the college campus. The college arranges such functions on a regular basis. The students play vital role for organizing the same.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The college conducts seminar, symposium and workshop in a systematic way for upgrading the knowledge and walking awareness of the community, health services and college community social interaction.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITES

A. Games & Sports: There is a big playground in front of the college. Students are given full freedom to participate in games and sports. They are also given facilities to practice Football, Cricket and Volley-ball (outdoor) and Carrom, Chess (indoor) throughout the year. Winners of every event in the annual sports meet of the college are rewarded at a prize giving function. The college also participates in the inter-college football championship and athletic meet organized by the sports department Govt. of West Bengal, every year. Some students are rewarded medals from athletic meet in the district level. B. National Service Scheme (N.S.S): The are two units of N.S.S. in the college under the supervision of the N.S.S. department of the University of Burdwan. Two separate teachers are given charge to do functions as programme officer for each unit. This services inspires and organizes students members to devote in humanitarian and social services. Camps are held every year with social programmes. Our adapted villages are “Goramara” and “Bhairabpur”. C. Magazine: The BALAKA is published once a year. It is edited by the Student Editor, under guidance of an Editorial Board, constituted from among the teachers. Every student is entitled to have a copy of the magazine and can contribute poem, short stories and articles for it, but their publication depends exclusively on the selection of the editorial board.

FREE STUDENTSHIP & AID FUND

The college provides financial assistance in the form of free studentship and aid fund to a good number of poor, meritorious and regular students. The students welfare committee is functioning smoothly for the purpose.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL

There is a grievance redressal cell in the college. Aggrieved student may post their grievances in grievance cell box for the same. The grievances are considered in a meeting of the grievance cell committee and remedial measures are suggested thereon.
